Americans want GPS on their cell phones more than they want Internet access on the phones. It looks like GPS-enabled devices are being widely used by the middle-aged and elderly in the States.
My unlce in Sri Lanka is a bit afraid of the mobile phone. He uses it to answer and make calls only. But HEY it is widely used in Sri Lanka.. for 3G stuff and downloading tunes and all that VAS as you call it.
There are so many service providers in Sri Lanka. Apparently a 5th one is trying to get his foot in to the same old subscriber base. Hmmmm what do Sri Lankans want ? Americans seem to kow what they like.
